Morning story
It happened this week.
Every morning I wake up with this program on the radio, which I delightfully listen to during the long process of waking up, having breakfast, check my email, brush my hair, clean my face, get dressed (I have my shower in the evening)...
That morning (I don't remember the day), at about the time I had to go from checking my email to get dressed, the host said "and now we will listen to a composition by the Argentinian composer Astor Piazzolla... My Portuguese (uh?) is not very good, but I'll do my best. The title is "Movimientos Tanguisticos Portenos" it's the third movement".
His accent in Spanish was quite good (for an anglo), but why did he say Portuguese? It passed so fast, I thought I heard wrong (you know, early morning, me night owl, eyes not opening very quick...). After the musical extract, though, he talks with one of his host "So, how is your Portuguese?..." Again?! Oh, come on! Don't tell me that someone educated, hosting an eyebrow emission at the national broadcast radio doesn't know that there is only one country in South America that speaks Portuguese, and that is not Argentina, but Brazil (the biggest country down there)!
I couldn't let it pass. I emailed the guy to educate him! (eheh!) He was quite nice and answered me:
"My God, you're right. It's one of those brilliant "I know this so I'm going to say it" moments. (hmm, is that something like you thought you knew but you didn't?) Well, I'm sure you won't be the only one to notice that lovely little moment on the Nation's Broadcaster. We'll have some fun preparing some kind of linguistic geography lesson this time, I'm sure. (That would be a great idea, if you need some help...);)

huhuhuh, j'entends des trucs comme ça moi aussi de temps en temps à la radio, ça me fait frémir... mais je n'ai encore jamais essayé de leur écrire, la prochaine fois je le ferai, merci pour l'idée :)
